I started my sales career at a very young age. I took my first job at the age of eight, delivering papers door to door. I had to sell and collect money! I did this every morning at 5:45 for 10 years of my life. It may sound funny, but this helped me create the discipline I still have today. I grew up in a small town called Round Lake in southwest Minnesota. I finally moved away at the age of 20. My parents still live there. Love going back. It’s really all about the simple things in life. From there I moved to Mankato for college. I graduated with a Mass Communications Degree with emphasis in Public Relations and a Speech Communications minor.
After college I worked at a few different places in the marketing and sales world. Sales was a choice I had to make. Took me a bit to come to grips with this. Once you accept it, life gets better, you get less stressed and you start doing the things you should be doing. It’s all about making that choice to be more. It was hard at first. Truly hard. I had to fight to learn to love it, like so many of you out there. I’m here to tell you that’s okay. When you embrace it, good things happen.
When I moved to Plymouth I started my career at Life Time Fitness. I was told to call people, so that’s what I did. I just worked harder and made more dials than anyone else there. This has served me very well in my career! From there I chased the title, I wanted more. I went on to become a Sales Director at the YMCA, a District Manager for Sprint and a Division Director for Robert Half Int. All along the way trying to perfect my sales skills and motivation to do so. As I moved through my career I decided to get my MBA from Augsburg College. One of the best moves I’ve ever made. Always a goal of mine. One thing you’ll learn about me. When I set a goal, I do everything in my power to achieve it.
I have two little ones, Jack (14) and Elle (5). Love my family, love hanging out with them and just enjoying every second I get with them. There isn’t much better in this world. I’m also an avid workout enthusiast. I love the gym, love running outside, inside, just love the discipline of it. It’s all about feeling good! It doesn’t matter if you are tired, don’t feel good or just don’t feel like it. You will never say “I wish I wouldn’t have done that.”
That’s so much what life is all about. When you do the things you know you should be doing, you never look back and wish you wouldn’t. That’s what I’m here for. I’ve coached, trained and spoken to people all over the country. There’s nothing better than watching someone get out of their own way and achieve the things they’ve always wanted to.
You can sum up my attitude about work in one phrase: Relentless Pursuit of Perfection!
